intention of the card design

This card's artwork celebrates Hawaiʻi’s beauty while raising awareness about climate change. The Hawaiian Monk Seal, barely fitting on the shrinking beach, symbolizes the struggle against rising sea levels and coastal erosion—13 miles of Hawaiʻi’s beaches are already gone and 70% are threatened. The native Pōhuehue plants in the foreground combat coastal erosion, representing nature's resilience. The native Koaʻe Kea soaring above embodies Hawaiʻi's graceful spirit. A rainbow offers hope for a future where we all cherish and protect our planet.
